An investment agreement records the terms of a funding arrangement between identified parties. The templates below are drafting references, not a guarantee of safe investment, profit or legal validity. The appropriate document depends on the transaction and jurisdiction.

Choosing the right format
Distinguish equity investment, lending and other arrangements before selecting a sample. They can create different rights, obligations and risks. Do not assume an investor receives a fixed monthly return unless that accurately describes the proposed and legally reviewed arrangement.
Details to include
- Parties, amount, purpose and timing of funding
- Relevant ownership or repayment terms and obligations
- Conditions, reporting, risk provisions and dispute arrangements
How to use the template
- Understand the proposed transaction and verify the parties.
- Review the clauses against the actual commercial agreement.
- Obtain appropriate legal and financial advice before committing funds or signing.
Worked example
A draft for an equity transaction should clearly identify the proposed ownership terms rather than copying a loan’s repayment schedule. A template cannot determine whether the investment is suitable.
Investor.gov’s guidance on investment scams explains why promises of high guaranteed returns deserve scrutiny.
Download and printing notes
Check the destination and file format of each existing download before using it. Some samples link to an external resource; its availability and terms are controlled by that provider.
