Free Contact List Templates and Organization Guide

A contact list keeps names, telephone numbers and email addresses together for quick reference. The templates below can help organize personal contacts, customer directories or team information. A contact list is broader than a list of online screen names.

Choosing the right format

Choose a compact printable directory for occasional reference or an editable table for records that change often. Keep personal and business lists separate when different people should have access.

Details to include

  • Name, organization or relationship and preferred contact method
  • Telephone number, email and address when necessary
  • Last updated date and relevant notes

How to use the template

  1. Use consistent column names and a single format for telephone numbers.
  2. Sort by the name or organization you normally search for.
  3. Review outdated records and keep an appropriate backup.

Worked example

A business entry could contain ‘Alex Morgan | Northside Services | accounts contact | email | phone’. Avoid notes unrelated to the purpose of the directory.

Download and printing notes

Check the destination and file format of each existing download before using it. Some samples link to an external resource; its availability and terms are controlled by that provider.
